The third step is to surrender everything to God as we understand him. It involves allowing God to take control of the situation. As God takes over, you don’t need to fear tomorrow.

The fourth step is to conduct a fearless and honest moral inventory of yourself. Let all wrongs be accepted and acknowledged. Commit the written resentments to God. You are with God in this.

The other step is to admit to God, to yourself, and to other human beings the exact nature of your wrongs. You will need to believe in God so as to attain to this step. You will need to accept that God is forgiving you after listening to you with grace. He is waiting to show compassion to you.

The sixth step involves being ready to let God address the defects of your character. These defects are only removed if you are willing to confess them and have God remove them.

You have shortcomings which made your past, and you have to ask God to remove them.Do this in a humble manner. The alcoholic cannot recover unless he accepts the gift of humility.
